Next on CloneJam

#CloneJamPorpi (while helping get me into Twine and make my first Twine game) has now ended. Which is sad because it was a lot of fun.  But there is hope! Our next featured freeware developer is Cameron Kunzelman, a narrative game developer with a recent successful kickstarter. So feel free to join us December 5-7 for our next #CloneJam. Clone Jam Porpentine

November’s Clone Jam (running from Nov 14 through Nov 16) features Porpentine! Clone Jam is a series of monthly game jams centered around various past, present, and budding freeware developers. Each month, a different freeware developer has agreed to be the featured artist for the jam, where participants create games inspired by the featured developer’s work. This could be art style, mood, theme, tone, soundscape, you name it! While hosting several visual based games on GameJolt, what Porpentine is most known for are her excellent Twine games. As such, both interactive fiction and more traditional games are welcome for the jam! As long as it is inspired by a work of Porpentine, everything is well. Related Links: #CloneJamPorpi jam page. Porpentine’s website (games page). Porpentine’s GameJolt Page. Clone Jam page. I’m also using the twitter hashtags #CloneJam and #CloneJamPorpi to spread the word about the Clone Jam series and Clone Jam Porpentine, respectively.

Words and Writing

Recently, and accompanying my output of games, I’ve been jolting down freeware game musings. If you’re at all interested in reading some of these posts, I put them up on these sites: Gamasutra My blog GameJolt Fireside There is a lot of overlap on these sites, but generally, my blog has the most posts of the three, with my Gamasutra page and my GameJolt Fireside page hosting the more polished and well received bits.

Seemingly on a Roll!

It’s been a grand and busy October. In the first weekend, Kill the Kraken!, my big field game, was accepted and shown at IndieCade 2014.  In the second weekend, Joe and I traveled to  Meaningful Play Conference, where both An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge and The World the Children Made were accepted for display. More so, I’m happy to say that An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge won Most Meaningful Game at Meaningful Play Conference! And finally, I’ll be in San Francisco this upcoming weekend (Oct 24 – 26) displaying another big game 2001: A Space Masquerade (created by Brain Pickens and I) at Come Out & Play!

EnviroGolf in the Leftfield Collection at EGX

Joe Cox and I couldn’t be more proud of our little EnviroGolf. It just grew up so fast, one week it’s full of spelling errors; the next, it’s at EGX :’^) So if you happen to be in London the week of September 22 2014, stop by and say hello to our little game (and please remind it of how proud we are of it).

#CloneJam Update

As people may or may not know, over the summer, I began a small game jam series named #CloneJam. This was made to feature freeware developers, with their permission, from across the board: big, small, budding, past, etc.  Since then, the jam series has grown very nicely!
